A Simple Night Skincare Routine for Men Over 35

Prime Shift MOVE Digital red light panel with Daily Cleanser, Peptide Eye Cream and Night Facial Oil

A night skincare routine for men over 35 can be simple: cleanse, take care of the eye area and finish with your evening skincare. If you use a red light panel, fit that session between cleansing and applying your leave-on products.

This is your Prime Shift evening routine: a few deliberate steps that fit around real life. Here is how the products in our evening routine work together, from the bathroom sink to a comfortable seat in the front room.

Your evening routine at a glance

  1. Cleanse: wash with Daily Cleanser and gently dry your skin.
  2. MOVE, when used: complete your MOVE Digital session according to the instructions supplied with your panel.
  3. Eye care: gently pat on Peptide Eye Cream.
  4. Finish: apply a few drops of Night Facial Oil to your face and neck.

The Prime Shift LOOK Night System brings together the three skincare products. The MOVE panel is an optional addition, sold separately.

1. Start with Daily Cleanser

Begin at the sink with Prime Shift LOOK Daily Cleanser. Use lukewarm water, cleanse gently and rinse thoroughly. Pat dry with a clean towel rather than rubbing.

The American Academy of Dermatology recommends a mild facial cleanser and lukewarm water for men's daily face washing. You are aiming for comfortable, clean skin, rather than a tight or scrubbed feeling.

Keep the cleanser where you will see it in the evening. Making this first step easy is more useful than building a complicated routine that you only follow occasionally.

2. Make room for MOVE Digital

If a panel is part of your routine, use it after cleansing and drying your skin, before applying eye cream or facial oil. This follows the order set out in Prime Shift's product guidance.

Prime Shift MOVE Digital is the compact 60-LED panel in the MOVE range, with a tabletop stand, digital controls and a remote. It is designed for targeted red and near-infrared light sessions without a permanent floor-standing setup.

For an evening setup, choose a dry, stable surface in the front room, position the illuminated face of the panel towards the intended area and sit comfortably. Follow your exact model's instructions for distance, mode, session length, frequency and eye protection. Do not use the panel beside running water or copy a treatment time from a social video.

Research on red-light devices has reported improvements in some visible signs of skin ageing, but devices and protocols differ. That research does not establish the same result for every home panel or every person. Read our plain-English guide to red light therapy for more context.

If you have a condition or take medication that makes you sensitive to light, check with a healthcare professional before using a light-based device.

3. Apply Peptide Eye Cream

After your panel session, apply a small amount of Prime Shift LOOK Peptide Eye Cream around the eye area. Pat gently until absorbed, avoiding direct contact with the eyes.

The formula contains peptides, sodium PCA, vitamin C and vitamin E. It is the targeted eye-care step in this routine; you do not need to pull or massage the delicate skin vigorously.

4. Finish with Night Facial Oil

Apply a few drops of Prime Shift LOOK Night Facial Oil to your face and neck, following the product directions. Massage gently and avoid direct contact with your eyes.

The evening formula combines bakuchiol with botanical oils, including rosehip seed oil. Start with the amount directed on the label rather than assuming that more product will work better.

A facial oil does not make moisturiser unnecessary for everyone. If your skin needs a moisturising cream, LOOK Daily Face Cream can also be used in the evening. Choose products to suit your skin and stop using anything that causes irritation.

Keep your evening routine easy to repeat

Choose a point in your evening that already happens reliably: after your shower, once the children are settled, or before you put your phone away. Keep the skincare together and prepare a safe place for your panel so there is less to organise each time.

On evenings without a MOVE session, continue with your skincare. The routine should fit your life. You do not need every optional extra every night.

Questions about a men's night skincare routine

Do I need a red light panel to start?

No. You can start with skincare alone. MOVE Digital is an optional addition to the routine and is not included in the LOOK Night System.

Should I apply facial oil before or after MOVE?

For this Prime Shift routine, cleanse and dry your skin first, complete your model-specific MOVE session, then apply the eye cream and facial oil.

Where do Eye Reset Patches fit?

LOOK Eye Reset Patches are an occasional extra. Use them as a separate skincare step according to their directions. They are not protective eyewear for a light panel.

Does evening skincare replace daytime sun protection?

No. Continue your daytime sun-protection routine. For the wider picture, read Men's Skincare After 40: A Simple Routine That Covers the Basics.
